My assessment is similar to the other two star review. The upper step had some gouges on the sides and top surface; however, all package contents appeared adequately protected with foam and plastic so, this could not have been shipping damage. Additionally, one of the hexagonal shaped recess holes to house the bolt head was marred or not adequately shaped so I had to use a triangular file to clean up the edges to allow the bolt to seat. The machined edge on the stainless steel step was not adequately finished, had an extremely sharp edge, and I used the file again to debur that edge or else it could have easily cut someone. Finally, be aware that the marine may design for the top step is not cut around the fasteners so if you need ready access to the winch for maintenance or repair, you will need to replace the marine mat. Overall, the concept is great and will improve my access from the ground/trailer to the boat, but I feel that the quality control should be better for the price.
Really pleased with the results! Install was a little tricky, the nuts on the under surface of the middle step are kind of hard to get to and I dropped one of them down inside my trailer, never to be seen again . Had to go buy another to finish it up. Looks great though and I’m looking forward to being able to get on the boat from the bow a lot more quickly and safely!
Installed a bit quicker because I Installed the top step upside down so I can get to the nuts from the top.
Nuts are countersunk so the mat had no problem laying down. Both pieces are same thickness so I didn't see a problem.
